Hydro’s Spanish Fork plant powered completely by renewable electricity

Hydro Extrusions North America’s facility in Spanish Fork, Utah, is Hydro’s first location in the United States to source 100 percent of its electricity needs from renewable energy.

In July, the site entered into an eight-year agreement with the City of Spanish Fork and the Utah Municipal Power Agency to procure renewable and locally produced electricity from two recently completed photovoltaic solar installations. With the agreement, Spanish Fork now takes 100 percent of its electrical supply from renewable sources.

Hydro Spanish Fork is a key provider to the manufacturing industry. On-site billet casting allows Hydro Spanish Fork to produce unique custom blends of aluminium alloy for customers with specific performance requirements.

The Spanish Fork facility is Hydro’s second location in North America to reach this milestone, joining the Pointe-Claire, Quebec site which utilizes 100 percent hydroelectric power. Pending the completion of a new solar field in first half 2023, Hydro’s Cressona, Pennsylvania facility will also source its entire electrical needs from renewable energy.
