CO2 Value Europe Co-signes the Antwerp Declaration
CO2 Value Europe is among the co-signers of the Antwerp Declaration for a European Industrial Deal. The declaration is an urgent call made by very diverse EU industry bodies and companies, based on 10 concrete actions to national governments, the next European Commission and next European Parliament to put the sustainability and competitiveness of Europe’s industrial policy at the core of the new European Strategic Agenda for 2024-2029.
Of particular interest to the CCU community, the Declaration calls the European Institutions and Member States to:
- A Circular Carbon Strategy that incentivises Carbon Capture and Use (CCU), biobased feedstocks, base metals, minerals and advanced materials necessary to reach the aims of the Green Deal.
- Scale up renewable carbon and circular carbon feedstocks, including the expansion and fast-permitting of advanced chemical recycling technologies.
- A real EU Energy Strategy with concrete actions that enable cross-border electrical power, grid expansion for hydrogen and other renewable & low-carbon molecules, and partnerships with resource-rich countries.
- Target the Recovery and Resilience Facility and Structural and Regional Funds to integrate and build world-class EU Energy, digital, CCUS and recycling infrastructures as soon as possible, making these Important Projects of Common European Interest.
As the representative of the CO₂ Utilisation community, CO2 Value Europe strongly supports the actions above and looks forward to continue collaborating with the EU institutions to ensure the large-scale deployment of CCU technologies.
