Brussels & Dar es Salaam, 23 May 2022 - Following two years of COVID restrictions, the Alliance for Rural Electrification’s (ARE) global flagship event Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF) is back in full capacity with the return of a three-day programme, exhibition and matchmaking opportunities to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

EAIF is the top annual business and finance event for the renewable electrification sector, enabling and fostering business and investor partnerships for the purpose of sustainable electricity access, decarbonisation, economic growth and fighting against climate change. The Forum convenes private and public investors, international funding partners, government officials and private sector companies and key stakeholders in the energy access, renewable energy, climate and infrastructure fields.
As the first of its kind, this year’s EAIF is supported directly by the European Union, as well as GET.invest. ARE is also delighted to confirm a plethora of new sponsors including the African Development Bank, Schneider Electric, ENGIE Energy Access, TCX, BMU, D-REC Initiative, NRECA International, REPP and Okra Solar. Additionally, the show enjoys many key strategic partnerships including ADEME, SEforALL, TAREA and UNIDO.
Cedric Merel, Head of Cooperation of the European Union Delegation to Tanzania said: “We are proud to be supporting this event in line with our continuous efforts to promote investment in renewable energy. This Forum brings financing institutions and industry players together including representatives from the public and private sector to discuss innovative energy solutions for Tanzania and globally. The interest of the EU goes in particular to clean energy creating green jobs and sustainable economic development.”
Michael Franz, Team Leader of GET.invest confirms: “As GET.invest, we are pleased to support EAIF because we believe in such events as great occasions to bring people together and stimulate the flow of ideas as well as new cooperation. ARE events have a strong track record - we encourage everyone in the industry to make use of this unique opportunity, and we look forward to the event ourselves.”
EAIF 2022 will feature interactive high-level panels, thematic and country sessions, pitches from the private sector and investors, country delegations from Mozambique and Burundi, as well as GET.invest Matchmaking sessions and networking receptions. The event will also include a dedicated Tanzania Energy Access Day to raise awareness on the potential of renewable energy technologies, particularly for rural electrification, in Tanzania.
Prosper Magali, Chairperson of TAREA said: "EAIF is a great honour and opportunity for our country to open up its potential and resources for the world to come and invest and contribute to increased energy access for the country and complement the national targets of 1.1 GW from renewable energy. It is also an opportunity to establish and strengthen partnerships between international and Tanzanian companies / organisations in investments and technology."
Based on its 15-year track record and EAIF’s role as the decentralised renewable energy (DRE) sector’s flagship event, ARE expects over 1,000 participants. Furthermore, exhibition spaces at the event venue remain on sale. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to get prime visibility, new contacts and business opportunities throughout the Forum.
David Lecoque, CEO of ARE highlights: “The massive deployment of the DRE technologies is imperative to achieving universal clean energy access while effectively addressing climate change. ARE is delighted to host the landmark EAIF in Tanzania to boost DRE financing in Africa and globally with 1,000 expected participants, insightful panels and sessions, an exhibition and state-of-the-art matchmaking facilities.”
