10th edition of European Urban Resilience Forum calls city leaders to Cascais

From 18 - 20 October, the European Urban Resilience Forum (EURESFO) will bring leading city representatives and resilience professionals together in Cascais (Portugal) to mark the flagship event’s 10th anniversary. Through interactive sessions, study visits and discussions, the 2023 edition aims to take stock of urban resilience in Europe and to answer the question: What is needed to help local and regional governments address resilience challenges towards 2030 and beyond?

By examining the progress achieved, and challenges faced, over the past ten years, EURESFO will support participants in evaluating their performance and advancing a resilient future. The conference has developed its programme around three themes: The governance of new crises: managing and funding resilience in Europe; Challenging knowledge and innovation: accelerating a resilient and just transformation; and Mainstreaming solutions for a just transformative pathway: an integrated approach to resilience.

As the host, the City of Cascais - a long-standing member of ICLEI Europe - will bring vital nature-based and socio-economic experience to share throughout the event. To mark its ten year anniversary, EURESFO has unveiled engaging new programme elements including a new Resilience Investment and Financing Forum co-organised by ICLEI Europe, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Making Cities Resilient 2030 initiative, five local study visits, talk-show interviews, and more.

To implement an accelerated resilience transformation, Europe must address ongoing challenges such as the war in Ukraine and the unprecedented scale and frequency of climate change, the impacts of which are destabilising communities on a global scale. With these challenges in mind, the 2023 edition of EURESFO will offer space to discuss, and plan for, a shared vision of European transformation toward a resilient future.

Register until 6 October.

The full programme is published here.
