The Government of Burundi, in partnership with the World Bank and ARE, is organising the third edition of the Burundi Renewable Energy Access Days

4 October 2024, Bujumbura – In order to accelerate progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal No. 7, and under the high patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Burundi, the Ministry of Water, Energy, and Mines (MINHEM), the World Bank, and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) will jointly organise the third edition of the Burundi Renewable Energy Access Days (BREAD). The event is scheduled to take place from 15 to 16 October 2024 in Bujumbura.

The main objective of the event is to present the government’s strategy to achieve universal access by 2030, by reviewing the implementation of recommendations from previous editions. It will also provide an opportunity to develop a detailed roadmap for the sustainability of the energy sector.

The Government of Burundi will implement all necessary reforms to allow the execution of the projects and programmes included in the Universal Energy Access Strategy in Burundi by 2030,” said Ibrahim Uwizeye, Minister of Water, Energy, and Mines.

A major event in the energy sector in Burundi, BREAD-2024 will bring together key stakeholders to assess innovative strategies for universal access to electricity, while advancing the country’s climate agenda.

The Renewable Energy Access Days in Burundi is an essential platform for dialogue among all stakeholders to accelerate electrification efforts in the country and improve the living conditions of Burundians.
